3 tips to make designing holiday marketing easier and more FUN!September 19, 2020
It’s September already. It’s been a strange year to say the least – both the longest AND shortest, somehow. For many small businesses, September means preparing for… *whispers* Christmas!
We still don’t really know what the holiday season will be like this year, for either families or businesses. But there is still plenty of FUN to be had with primarily online marketing materials.
Here are some ideas to introduce some play, colour, and an element of surprise to your holiday season marketing (or any new campaign):
Use a new variation of your brand colours
If you’re like me, occasionally you get a bit tired of the same brand colours. Release that colour-restlessness (new phrase!) in your marketing materials. There are plenty of ways to stay on brand while introducing new colours/shades.
Introduce new illustrations
Campaigns often have their own personality that relates to, but is a variation of, your brand. So have fun with it and get some custom illustrations done. Or find an illustration package on Creative Market.
You can then bring the illustrations into Canva or Photoshop. Otherwise, if you’re short on time, a graphic designer can whip up some postcards, feature posts, ads etc.
Add a little extra value as a surprise
Nothing is more delightful than an unexpected extra. It makes your audience feel ‘worth it’, and they will be more likely to share an unboxing/review/repost. It doesn’t have to be expensive, so go for high impact AND low cost. For eg: A keeper postcard for their office wall or custom holiday season packing tape with kind words (Eco Pen Club does this).
Most graphic designers are more than happy to help you come up with ideas. Don’t stress if you just have a vague feeling you want to instill in customers, or have found a colour combination you love. We usually have more ideas than get to see the light of day, so rejoice at an opportunity to come up with something new!
Starting about now, graphic designers will be filling bookings steadily till December. So once you have a vague idea of what you might want to do, get cracking and make that enquiry!
